Mexico Resorts With Baby Clubs

Hello from Club Med Ixtapa Pacific!

Mexico is such a great family vacation destination – a vibrant and warm culture with a wide range of accommodation options at very different price points and with a number of different amenities. Many resorts have rooms able to accommodate larger families with three kids or more, and most can arrange babysitting or nannies. A baby friendly resort does not necessarily have to have a baby club, but it is a nice amenity to have when traveling to Mexico with a baby.

Baby Clubs, Not Just Babysitting…

The bonus of a baby club means you can often just pop by for an hour or two when it suits your schedule and/or your baby’s routine best. If your baby is an easy napper, you may want to drop him off at naptime so she’d supervised while she sleeps, and you can steal a few moments to yourselves. Or perhaps you’d feel more comfortable letting your baby play in a safe, supervised, and air-conditioned area during awake time so you could hit the beach for a snooze or a snorkel. Either way, if you’re comfortable enough to leave your little one in the care of others, it’s nice to have that option.

Baby Clubs at resorts vary widely in terms of amenities and services available, and also – cost. In Mexico, all of these resorts have their baby club included, with the exception of Club Med Ixtapa Pacific.

Mexico Resorts With Baby Clubs…

There is plenty of information for resorts in Mexico, but places with baby clubs are not that easy to find. I waded through them all to find Mexico resorts with baby clubs who will care for infants and toddlers 0-4 years of age. Unlike Jamaica and Cuba, there are few that take very young babies – most need to be at least one year of age and usually 18 months and up.

Cancun and Riviera Maya:

Blue Bay Grand EsmeraldaI had the pleasure of staying at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda a few years back on a press trip, and I was surprised to discover that they offered a mini-club for children as young as two. Their area was shaded, the indoor part was clean and air-conditioned, and the (then) new cribs were well-taken care of. Children did not need to be potty-trained, and the staff seemed caring and fun. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda is located about halfway between the airport and the town of Playa Del Carmen.

Crown Paradise Cancun – In addition to their Kid’s Paradise Program with daily activities for kids aged 4 to 12, they also have a Baby Paradise Program for babies aged 18 months to 3 years. Crown Paradise Cancun is located about 20 minutes from Cancun Airport, and 11 miles from downtown Cancun. In addition to their supervised programs, there is also a water park, which features a pirate ship and eight water slides, as well as mini golf and a game room.

Great Parnassus – Only 15 minutes from the Cancun airport, the Great Parnassus has spacious rooms and loads of amenities and activities for families. Open from 9 AM to 9 PM, the Baby Club (18 months to 3 years old) provides supervised care and activities for baby, including baby pool time, face painting, magic story time, baby aqua-aerobics, coloring, sand castle building and more.

Grand PalladiumThere are actually four Grand Palladium resorts in the Riviera Maya – The Grand Palladium Colonial, The Grand Palladium Kantenah, The Grand Palladium Riviera, and The Grand Palladium White Sand. Located across the Riviera Maya in Puerto Juarez (Colonial and Kantenah) and Chetumal (Riviera and White Sand) the different resorts have unique atomospheres, facilities, and decor, but they all have the baby club – for little ones aged 1-3.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo:

Club Med Ixtapa Pacific – We were very fortunate to be guests of Club Med Ixtapa Pacific when it first re-opened after a major renovation a few years back. It was amazing. And a colleague has been returning annually with his family, they love it so much. Club Med Ixtapa Pacific’s facilities are amazing, but the Baby Club and the Mini Club (for infants as young as three months to three-year-olds) come at an extra cost (the Petit Club for kids four and older is included). The clubs are run by international G.O.s, and they are lovely, fun, and caring. The cost can seem steep but for occasional use the level of care is outstanding.

Puerto Vallarta:

Grand Palladium Vallarta – As with the Grand Palladium resorts in the Riviera Maya, the Grand Palladium Vallarta also offers a baby club for babies aged 1-3. They are located on Banderas Bay, just 20km from the airport in Puerto Vallarta.

Melia Vallarta – Overlooking the Marina, and in a great neighbourhood, the Melia Vallarta is only a 5 minute ride from the airport or 10 minutes to downtown Puerto Vallarta. The kids’ activities at Melia resorts are Flintstones-themed, and children can be watched and cared for by certified babysitters with Red Cross First-Aid training. Babysitting is offered for children from 4 months to 4 years old. This resort is also 100% smoke-free!
